Bernard has a broad commercial practice, advising and appearing in matters across transportation (including maritime, aviation and logistics), real property, retail and commercial leasing, trade practices and contract law. He also has experience appearing in coronial inquests.

Bernard regularly appears, both led and unled, in proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the District and Local Courts, and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Bernard is also frequently engaged as an advocate in mediations, where he brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to dispute resolution.

Bernard holds a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney. Since 2020 he has appeared in Best Lawyers in Australia for Transportation Law and Shipping and Maritime Law.
